Confidence in Finnish Industries Remained Stable

Business Confidence Indicators were released on 27th of November.

In November, the manufacturing confidence indicator increased one point from October’s figure. Confidence was -14 in November. The long-term average is +1.

The construction confidence indicator scored -16 in November which is the same figure as in October. The indicator is clearly below its long-term average which is -6.

The service sector confidence indicator scored -11 points in November, which is exactly the same figure than in October. Confidence is well below the long-term average (+12).

Retail trade confidence gained four points in November from October revised figure. The latest standing is -3, which is now slightly below the long-term average (-1).

Confidence in Finnish Industries Remained Muted

EK published Business Confidence Indicators on 27th of October.

In October, the manufacturing confidence indicator increased five points from September’s figure. Confidence was -15 in October. The long-term average is +1.

The construction confidence indicator scored -16 in October, which is one point less than in September. The indicator is clearly below its long-term average which is -6.

The service sector confidence indicator scored -11 points in October, which is one point more than the revised figure in September. Confidence is far away from the long-term average (+12).

Retail trade confidence lost three points in October from September. The latest standing is -8, which is now slightly below the long-term average (-1).

Confidence Mostly Unchanged in February

Manufacturing

Confidence remained stable but the indicator is below its long-term average .It scored -8 points (-8 in January, too) while its long-term average is +1.

Construction

The confidence indicator stayed almost unchanged near its long-term average. The latest balance figure is -9 points, its long-term average is -8.

Services

There was no major change in the service sector confidence. Sales expectations are moderately positive. Indicator scored +10 points in February. It is only marginally below its long-term average (+13).

Retail trade

Retail trade confidence weakened slightly. Sales expectations for the coming months are cautious. The latest indicator figure is -9 points (-4 in January). The long-term average is -2.

Confidence Indicators Still at a Low Level

Finnish manufacturing confidence is well below its long-term average despite a small improvement. Confidence indicator scored -6 points in October, up from the revised figure of -9 in September. Confidence is well below its long-term average (+1).

The Finnish construction confidence indicator recovered from its recent slump. It reached +2 points (-12 points in September) while its long-term average is -8.

Service sector confidence indicator improved slightly in October. However, confidence is well below its long-term average of +13. The latest indicator figure is +6, it was +2 in September.

Confidence in retail trade is still at a low level. The confidence indicator scored -10 points (-16 points in September) while its long-term average is -2. Sales figures are expected to decline further during the rest of the year.

Service Companies’ Confidence Improved in May

Service sector confidence improved somewhat in May. Confidence improved to an average level. The confidence indicator figure rose to +13, up from +9 in April. Its long-term average is also +13.

The Finnish manufacturing confidence weakened in May due to rising stocks of final goods. Only very slow production growth is expected. The Finnish manufacturing confidence indicator is still at a weak level. Its latest reading is -11 points, down from -8 in April. Its long-term average is +1.

Finnish construction confidence was rather stable in May. The confidence indicator scored -6 points which is one point less than the figure recorded one month earlier. Confidence is close to its long-term average (-8).

Service sector confidence improved somewhat in May. The confidence indicator figure rose to +13, up from +9 in April. Its long-term average is also +13.

Retail trade confidence was almost unchanged and the indicator is near to a normal level. The confidence indicator stood at 0 points (-1 in April) which is close to the long-term average of -2.

Finnish Business Confidence is decreasing slightly

Finnish manufacturing confidence stayed almost at the same level as in March. Confidence is currently two points below the long-term average. The long-term average is +1. The confidence indicator scored -1 point in April which is two points lower than the figure recorded in March.

Construction sector confidence decreased a bit from the previous month. The indicator declined three points to +4 points (fi gure +7 in March). The long-term average for the indicator is -6 points.

Service sector confidence indicator increased slightly to +13 in April which is two points higher than in March. The indicator stands currently a bit below its long-term average (+14).

Retail trade confidence improved a bit in April. The indicator increased to +4 from +2 revised in March. The indicator is above its long-term average (-1).

Finnish Business Confidence decreased slightly in February

Finnish manufacturing confidence weakened slightly in Febuary. Confidence is currently just below its long-term average. The confidence indicator scored -2 points in February which is six points lower than the revised figure recorded in January. The long-term average is +1.

Construction sector confidence decreased from the previous month level in February. The indicator declined eight points to +8 points (revised figure +16 in January). The long-term average for the indicator is -6 points.

Service sector confidence indicator increased furthermore to +19 points in February which is five points higher than in January. The indicator stands currently at above its long-term average level (+14).

Retail trade confidence weakened only slightly in February. The indicator decreased to +5 points from +7 in January. Nevertheless, the indicator is above its long-term average (-1).

No Major Changes in Finnish Business Confidence in January

Finnish manufacturing confidence improved slightly in January. Confidence is currently above its long-term average. The confidence indicator scored +5 points in January which is three points higher than the revised figure recorded in December. The long-term average is +1.

Construction sector confidence stayed almost on previous month level in January. The indicator declined one point to +16 points (revised figure +17 in December). The long-term average for the indicator is -7 points.

Service sector confidence indicator was almost unchanged at +14 points in January which is one point lower than in December. The indicator stands currently at its long-term average level (+14).

Retail trade confidence weakened only slightly in January. The indicator rose to +6 points from +5 in December. Nevertheless, the indicator is above its long-term average (-1).

Finnish Industrial Confidence Stable

In December, the manufacturing confidence indicator stayed almost at the same level as in previous month. Confidence was -6 in December (-7 in November). The long-term average is +1.

The construction confidence indicator decreased by one point from previous month to +3 points. The indicator is above its long-term average which is -6.

The service sector confidence indicator scored +11 points in December, which is three points more than in November. Confidence is getting closer to the long-term average (+14).

Retail trade confidence gained one point in December. The latest standing is +8, which is above the long-term average (-1).

Business Confidence Roughly Unchanged in August

Business confidence of the Finnish manufacturing companies stayed roughly unchanged at a solid level. The indicator scored +13 points in August (+14 in July) while its long-term average is +1.

Construction sector confidence recovered briskly after its decline one month earlier. The confidence indicator climbed to +13 points (-3 in July). The indicator is well above its long-term average (-7).

Service sector confidence indicator scored +18 points in August, slightly down from the revised reading of +19 points in July. Nevertheless, it is above its long term average (+14).

Retail trade confidence weakened somewhat in August. The confidence indicator decreased to +12 points (revised figure +18 in July). However, confidence is well above its long-term average (-1).
